CREAS, a specialized impact investment manager in Spain, has received approval from the CNMV to act as a closed-end collective investment manager (SGEIC).
"This milestone will allow us to launch new funds, strengthen our team, which is our best investment, and continue promoting impact investment in Europe," says Emilio Ayanz, Managing Partner of CREAS. This news coincides with the closing of their first fund, Creas Impacto FESE, S.A., which has already completed a portfolio of 12 investments, as well as the publication of their Impact Report 2022.
In this annual report, CREAS takes stock of over 10 years of progress, during which the team began investing in 2012 through their first fund, supporting more than 20 companies and making over 6 divestments. CREAS later launched Spain's first institutional impact fund in 2018, a €30 million fund with the participation of public funds, private investors, pension funds, foundations, and religious institutions, and concluded with their participation in Mitiga Solutions.
As a member of SpainNAB's board of directors and the impact committees of Spainsif and Spaincap, the manager will continue to invest in growth-stage companies in the same verticals, actively getting involved and supporting impact management, which is perceived as a lever for long-term value creation. CREAS will keep working to generate systemic and transformative change, connecting investors, entrepreneurs, and beneficiaries by aligning impact with strategy, capital, and people. Its field of action will be divided between Spain (70%) and Europe (30%).
For Lara Viada, partner at Creas, "this is a very special moment for us because we are closing a very important stage where, on the one hand, we are reaping the rewards of 10 years of hard work and effort, witnessing the growth and maturation of the impact investment sector, and on the other hand, we are entering a stage of broader scope, though no less demanding. We want to continue taking steps to be part of this necessary large-scale change."
