Refurbed is the leading marketplace for refurbished electronics in the German speaking regio. With the goal of promoting sustainable consumption, Refurbed allows professional refurbishers to reach a huge market by changing consumer behavior.

Problem

The electronics industry is one of the largest industries in the world and emits copious tons of CO2 per year, many times compared to those of a small country.  This has a significant contribution to both climate change and the e-waste challenge (the 50 million tonnes of e-waste generated every year will more than double to 110 million tonnes by 2050).

Solution
Experts claim that repairing, not recycling, is the first step to tackling this issue. Refurbished products avoid not only waste but also the production of new devices, avoiding tons of CO2 emissions. Refurbed is changing consumer habits and making refurbished products available to the mass market.

Impact
Since the launch of the marketplace in 2017 up to Creas' investment in July 2021, the company has already saved 170 tons worth of electronic devices and subsequently managed to reduce the CO2 impact by 31,000 tons.
